in the beginning . . . welcome!

Welcome,

Don't know if you find what you are looking for here but please feel free to browse around. My intent is to have some space to think things out and share my questions and comments about life.

Took me a while to come up with the blog URL site name. I needed to name it something that reflects my wrestling matches with life's unanswered questions. It struck me, today especially, that there are questions in life that never seem to get answered to our satisfaction.

I was at a funeral today for a promising young 24 YR old man who was loved and respected by more people than he probably ever realized. I had only met him a couple of times but know his parents as acquaintances. He was a PK (preachers kid) who had just finished his first year of seminary and was engaged to be married next March(09.

Now the question that ruminated in every one's mind (including my own) was and is pretty universal and generic. It is simply, "Why God?" And not too surprising we could surmise the best answer we will have for now is a gentle Parental reply,"Because. . ."

And of course it reminded me of thoughts we Christians share amongst each other at times like this, "when we get to heaven we can ask God personally."

There are a lot of questions we all want answers to now but instead we have to wait. . . . until we get there . . . .

Now that thought lead to still another thought. I'm sure we all would agree that the #1 question in the world is "why?" But running a close second to that has to be the never ending question that we all have either been the babe from which it sprang or later the parent who had to deal with it. It is the gnawing nagging question, "Are we there yet?"

No, I guess we are not, but for those who have gone on ahead of us, their questions have been answered, their journey is complete.

And we who still must "press on towards the goal" find ourselves searching for more answers until we hear Jesus reply to the question of our impetuous youth, "Are we there yet?" when He finally says, " Yes, my child, we are."

Welcome to "Are we there yet?"

Stay close to Jesus!
